You all are in luck. I finally feel like posting photos dating from last year. So sit back and enjoy (while I slow upload and caption the photos).

First up, the chalet photos! I only have Day 2 photos if I remember correctly because of SHIC the previous day. While I was searching for the folder containing these files, I was looking for “dyb chalet ‘10” and I couldn’t find it, thinking “Oh no, the files must be missing after my computer crashed a few months back.” [this happened to my music files even though they were in D drive]. And then I realised dyb chalet ‘10 have not passed. Ok, I feel quite stupid now.

These happens to be my favourite photos. (:

A jelly representing everyone from our batch (: (: So cute (: (: These are kianming’s birthday present I think. Goodness, my memory is getting worst by the day. And I suddenly remembered that these jellies are supposed to be red (strawberry flavour) and then it turned out orange on my camera.

And these are the Christmas goodies for all dyb member supposedly. Bet some of you didn’t get it. The jellies are left over from the packaging.

It’s a day of baking muffins and making sushi (and of course packed full of fun)!! (:

Zhang Yang was talking to Yulong and started laughing. At the same time, for I dunno what reason, he steps backwards. He didn’t notice there were bamboo poles behind him. Subsequently, he went UNDER the bamboo poles because he was bending down, laughing too hard. He noticed the camera and tried to run by standing straight and turning around at the same time. It failed because his head hits the bamboo and he laughed some more. (:

Notice the colour difference. The one on the left is white batter while the colour on the right is grey batter! Do not be digusted. This is due to diffusion from the blueberries to the rest of the batter.

Voting for 团花团草! (: There are only 12 slips of paper but 25 votes because we counted in everyone who was absent. I heard that Zhangyang filled up the rest of the dyb votes with the same answer too! That is xinmin’s phone by the way (:

Shifting the freshly baked muffins from the metal things to the aluminium trays. Metal things were used after the deformed first batch to keep the muffins in shape. Only 12 muffins could be baked at the same time.

Shifting not-baked muffins from a smaller tray to a bigger tray. The final batch – no more metal things because we are late. And somebody (xinmin) was careless enough to drop one of them while moving.

I told you we were late. We’re supposed to reach school by 6.

The bottom is a box of chocolates xinmin bought for the whole dyb. Those who have not eaten any, can claim from xinmin the next time you see her. Not sure if there is any left though. The top are staples dyb won for winning 3rd prize for our sushi and muffins. Claim those from xinmin too. The top row of the chocolates says DYB (:

Hey people (: This post is written in response to xiaorong’s post and to satisfy the needs of both xiaorong and our dear dyb blog (:

Regarding the esplanade concourse performance by our very own Vincent, I wanted to post videos of the performance but then computer don’t recognise the file format of videos taken by phones (mine, at least and yes we secretly took videos of it. I swear that everytime that i want to watch the video or show it to other person, my phone will hang and lag) So, too bad. I don’t think there is any point in posting anymore photos of Vincent since xiaorong has already posted so many already. If anybody wants to view the video, come free to find me (: By the way xiaorong, Vincent doesnt seem to mind the posting. Look at what he tagged on the tagboard. He’s safe unless somebody is evil enough to tell tl. (:

I realised Charmaine didnt tell the story of the cookies. Let me tell it to you (:

Once upon a time, there lived many dyb-ians who were (and are) very very nice, especially to their seniors (: One day, they decided to get together and bake delicious cookies for their seniors who are about to take (well, taking) their very important ‘A’ levels. (: While waiting for the cookies to be finish baking, they prepared a board the the words “Jiayou for (: A levels” to parade around the school to wish not only their seniors but all other seniors of the school as well. (: They finished baking and brought the cookies to school for their seniors! Yay end of story. (: Aren’t these juniors nice? (: Let’s hope that their juniors are as nice as well (: In order for you all to get into the mood of baking, here are some photos of the baking process (:

the dyb blog: people, i know that technology is advanced and all and ALL of you have facebook, but just because you put photos on facebook doesnt mean you can neglect me. ): please update me!!

okay nonsense aside, juniors, can you be more vigilant and update the blog more often? it have been 3 months since the last update! i know that im probably the only person on earth that doesnt have a facebook account, but that doesnt mean that fb replaces this blog! hopefully you all can update HERE soon with pics of us baking cookies or something interesting.

anyway i'm here to post some pics in order to gain enough attention back to this blog and keep it alive. thank me thank me! lol.

this was taken when wenyi and i were at esplanade library one fine day a few months ago. we wanted to do some research for MEP or something then we came acrossed THIS at the concourse.

in case some of you can't see, it's a poster that features who else but our very own VINCENT as part of a quartet that's performing in the esplanade concourse! OF COURSE we have to go and check it out.

Here's some pics of him performing. I know there are a lot of the same pics of him because i had to use burst shots to zoom in if not it'll look damn tiny (as for a lot of SE phones), not for any other stupid reason that i know you all will come up with.

Yay i'm feeling bored so i'm here to post again (:

Let's start with a story of a little girl call charmaine with pictures to illustrate the story better (:

This little girl was discussing a certain geog coastal report with her friend. she was trying to tell her friend how she drew her beach profile so she came up with this:

it's obviously a messy diagram so obviously her friend cannot understand what she is trying to say

thus come the second diagram which looks like this:

admittedly, this diagram is more understandable with more labelling but how could you know what she wanted to say?

the third diagram who looks like this:

is even worse off then the first one, though much neater in comparison.
Apparently she improves the skills of her drawing but not how her drawing help to explain things.

Frustrated, the little girl came up with her fourth diagram:

which is so much much better than all her other diagrams. Haven't your teacher taught you to draw diagrams with neat and proper labelling? And your math teacher will strangle you if you fail to account what is x!!

Moral of the story: please do not forget to apply what you learn in school to your everyday life.

All Dyb-ians, if you dont know this song, better start learning now! it's now the official DYB song!

to those who's absolutely baffled by this, this song became famous in dyb when the year 3s and 4s came together at my place to make cupcakes for the seniors and end up getting real high in my karaoke room, with all the guys demonstrating how to dance.
afterwards, the girls began to learn as well and we threw our faces while performing for senior high dyb as part of our encouragement for syf!

those who dont know how to dance can consult guanyang as a personal trainer.
he knows this song quite well and even showed off some of the dance steps when we revealed what we were about to do.

YES so now regardless whether you're a year 1 or some botak senior in NS or whatever, learn how to sing, and most importantly, DANCE to this song now! It's the official DYB song hahaha. (:
Hope to see juniors dancing to it for us 2 years later before syf hahahaha. :D

something to liven up the otherwise completely dead blog

Hello.

kind soul that i am, i've decided to invest some of my holiday time (otherwise used to mug/slack) to update the blog with a lot of very very very very very late pictures (don't kill me!)
and this time, instead of extremely humiliating pictures that the others are so obsessed with putting up, im posting nice pictures! :D (how nice of me)

oh, and a very late congratulations to May Ping, on being appointed the new Treasurer of DHSSHCO! (:

good for her, not good for us at the receiving end.

i guess it's financially healthy for the orchestra, having an auntie for treasurer, hahaha.

for example, in the recent first ever CIG (CO Inaugural Games) for year 4 and 5, we, the combined group of DYB + DJY, won 1st prize! (duh, it's dyb leh)
and what do we get for being first, after getting extremely wet in the first game, running like siao around school for 1 hour and getting negative points for that (-240), and crawling around blindly like fools etc etc?

a prize that MAYPING bought, costing if im not wrong around ~~$1.45 plus minus 10 cents~~ [edit] IT'S $1.95, thank you very much for telling me it's 50 cents more than it's worth, i feel so comforted now [/edit] some waffle thingy.
one packet costs approx. 8 CENTS.
after distributing, average person gets 2 packets aka 16 CENTS.

moral of the story is: never get the auntie to buy the prize for any competition in the future.

it'll be on next wednesday (28th January '09), after the CNY celebrations. we'll be meeting in the CO room, and we'll find something to self-entertain first :D

hey all, i want to bring attention to something that happened recently.
this is regarding the matter where Alex went to the guanyue blog to spam the tagboard on some particular guanyue person that he apparently has something against.
this is VERY VERY important.
dyb's reputation has taken a blow.

I want everyone to know about this matter, especially the culprit himself. ALEX.
in the first place, if you have something against someone, you can settle whatever happened between yourselves, do not do it on the INTERNET, where it is public and accessible by all.

2ndly, if you want to insult someone online (though of course highly not recommended as a form of cyber bullying), do NOT drag along any of your associates or anyone else, including cca and your class. you do it as your private business, as an INDIVIDUAL.

there is absolutely no need to insult each other on the net. that guanyue person might dont like you a lot, but it is you who initiated the flaming online. he did not come to dyb's blog to spam.

before you do anything, please think about the consequences that you and others might have to bear and face, or you might cause a lot of trouble and disruption. like what happened to dyb's popularity. you all can go to the blog and see what that person wrote on the tagboard.

the damage's done.
i seriously hope that you can think for yourself and your yuezu, alex.
and that no such thing happens again.

DYB cleaned the CO room! :D

did you all notice tht the co room is much much cleaner now? i bet you all did. cause..

DYB cleaned up the CO room on monday after fenzu! :D

and now, the CO room is clean, all thanks to xiaorong, charmaine, yueheng, and xinmin. we got a little help from jiayu too! haha

xiaorong and xinmin clean-ed up he djy, dyb, and guanyue area, while charmaine and yueheng cleaned the tby and the guanyue area :D

while we were all working hard, trying to keep the co room clean, our dear kianming was standing at the djy area, trying to keep up with the rest of the djy people. however, he failed to do so. instead of volunteering his help, he continued to stand at the djy area, and all he did was to stand there and smile.

but, jiayu came to he rescue! he emptied the two bins for us. so nice right! haha.

so now, the co room is super clean, thanks to charmaine, xiaorong, yueheng, xinmin, and jiayu! :D

i bet JY is super proud of us. :D

for gongyan, i have to do a little chang2wen2suo1duan3 before i can post and for chuguo...
i have to wait for shilun to send finish all the chuguo pics (-.-)
but now i have decided to post something that happened quite some time ago and is pretty hilarious! :D

in 3C'08, there was a girl called Kimberley. (it's ok if you dont know who she is)
she sits beside a girl from dyb called xiaorong (:
during maths lesson where everyone sleeps/talks/daydream (just not paying attention at all to the lousy teacher), xiaorong and kimberley talks about their ccas!
through many periods of maths lessons, they get to know about each other's ccas and the ppl inside as well. (as well as phone raids into xiaorong's phone -.-)
so kimberley began to gain interest in a guy from xiaorong's cca, called JOEY. (:
she was so crazy over him that she went to gongyan just to see what he looks like in real life and could not stop gushing over him.

imagine this:
xiaorong (XR) walks into class.
kimberley (K) is alr in class.
K: eh XR! i went for your co concert!
XR: oh really?
K: yeah! and i saw JOEY! HE'S SO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE! :DDDDDDD

..and so on.

one day, kimberley decides to display her artistic ability and drew a picture of joey in class!

first let's talk about the recent sort-of dyb outing!
(not really an outing cos it's like 5 ppl?)
basically me, jy, charmaine and yue heng wants to buy blue pants, so joey (?) tagged along. in the end it became an outing!
it was on the last day of jixun, after dazu.
time to post some pics again! haha. i love posting pics xD

i know from here he looks like he's really working hard, but in fact he's playing dota! -.-
i shall add this to the dyb's list of 'what not to do during dazu'. haha.

we still couldnt find blue pants in raffles city shopping centre, so we decided to leave.
THEN jy and joey pangsehed us, cos they din tell us they going to watch some concert TOGETHER at some place. ): so bad right!
but it's ok, charmaine and i have each other! :P

we managed to find blue pants at bedok at ck departmental store at $10.90!

anyway our journey for that day is completed!

that day is super tiring lah.
we have to paiwei for all the dazus and the weird zheng formations, as well as carry double basses up stage and bringing so many zhengs down.
we were like near dead when we finished. haha.

we were given 2 bottles of water to share between charmaine, jy and me.

The story of Joey and the green balloon:
Once upon a time there was a green balloon, which lives on the inside of dhs sch hall. one fine day, dhsco was having a zoutai, and joey just happens to be sitting on the first chair, playing his cello.
the green balloon took one look at him, and fell in love with him. awww. (:
but joey dont like the green balloon, so he used his slipper and kicked it away! OUCH.
but green balloon just loves joey too much, so it floats back to joey.
joey, feeling pissed off now, kicked it away again! so mean!
the green balloon is scared now so it floats away to the conductor stand.
THE END! (:

after alumni dazu, joey and xing zhong starts to feel tired so they lie on the floor and attempted to sleep!

Three bottles of drinks. Joey drank the left one and became a little drunk. He couldnt think straight and his eyes and face turned as red as Shaoyu's cello. Hongbin drank the other two and his teeth turned so black it looked as if he were wearing braces.

During the bbq, Joey was playing with fire.

The watermelon that me, JY, Janice and Joey ate together. Xiao Rong drank all the juice that contained our saliva. Wahaha. I didn't tell her that I added an extra ingredient too. Hehe.

Jy and Mayping comparing their skin colour. Apparently, Mayping is lighter than Jy. And Jy is not even 40kg. Mayping must be really light! :)

HELLO! i'm here at 1.19am to bug you all about important stuff that all of you will love! DYB CHALET! ((:

Can we try to push it to be from 27th-29th dec? Cos from what i know so far, sec 1s - 3s, most of the people who are going overseas will be back by latest 26th (tentative)? Except for those who will be going away for the entire month, then i dunno when you all will be back, cos you all also never tell me. Then about the seniors, i dunno yet, haven't ask.. heh..

Anyway, I realised that we have very little time left before EOYs start and before everything else gets booked and we'll be left with no more, so we have to get this settled quickly and book it ASAP.

ALOHA CHANGI FAIRY PT BUNGALOW

The single-storey chalets are fully furbished with the living room set with TV and games table; dining room; 3 air-conditioned bedrooms, furbished with beds (1 queen-sized and 4 single-sized), wardrobe, dresser, bedside table and wall fan; 4 toilets/bath (1 attached) with shower heater; BBQ pit and a fully equipped kitchen.

Nearby got not much facilities or places to buy things or play or whatever, only changi point? But go there also see ah kua. But aloha changi near the boardwalk there, quite nice to walk, especially at like 5-6AM. Lol. So IF we get bored (which hopefully we wont), can go there and walk walk? Or after midnight can go walk to changi point there and 见识一下. O.O Haha.

Public rates (super peak): $170 per night

How to get there:
Take the east bound train to Tampines MRT station. Transfer to Bus no. 29.
OR
Take the east bound train to Pasir Ris MRT station. They have a Shuttle bus service commuting to & from Pasir Ris MRT station.

Pick-up / Drop-off points :
Pasir Ris MRT : Taxi stand facing the main road (near Mac Donald's)
Aloha changi : Outside the Reception Office (They bluff one. Only have shuttle bus from aloha changi to pasir ris mrt. Times include: 0950, 1030, 1450, 1550, 1650, 2145)

So most prob will be there from 27th, 28th and 29th dec. so KEEP THOSE DATES FREE! Telling you all these now, considered quite early already ok. haha. Basically thats all lah, for now. Then should be as usual, 2nd night have BBQ, so afternoon must go and buy food, unless can get BBQ catering?

I’ve never been there, so I don’t really know how is it like, but I think it’s quite a distance to walk to downtown east. The Garden Terrace is the only one we can afford, it’s either one of the smallest, if not, the smallest, among all the chalets there, but its nearest the entrance and furthest to the beach, don’t know if that’s good to you all or not.

Public rates (super peak): $230 (ok, but price is abit steep compared to what you can get from the others.)

Once upon a time, there lived a man called Samuel (I didn't say which Samuel :D) who had a terrible passion for baked beans. He loved them, but they always had an embarrassing and somewhat lively reaction on him.

One day he met a girl and fell in love. When it was apparent that they would marry, he thought to himself "She?ll never go for me carrying on like that," so he made the supreme sacrifice and gave up beans, and shortly after that they got married.

A few months later, on the way home from work, his car broke down and since they lived in the country, he called his wife and told her he would be late because he had to walk. On his way home, he passed a small cafe and the wonderful aroma of baked beans overwhelmed him.
Since he still had several miles to walk he figured he could walk off any ill affects before he got home. So he went in and ordered, and before leaving had three extra large helpings of baked beans.

All the way home he "putt-putted". He "putted", down one hill and "putted up" the next. By the time he arrived home he felt reasonably safe.

His wife met him at the door and seemed somewhat excited. She exclaimed, "Darling, I have the most wonderful surprise for you for dinner tonight" She put a blindfold on him, and led him to his chair at the head of the table and made him promise not to peek. At this point he was beginning to feel another one coming on. Just as she was about to remove the blindfold, the telephone rang. She again made him promise not to peek until she returned, and she went to answer the phone.

While she was gone, he seized the opportunity. He shifted his weight to one leg and let go. It was not only loud, but ripe as a rotten egg. He had a hard time breathing so he felt for his napkin and fanned the air about him.

He had just started to feel better, when another urge came on. He raised his leg and "rrriiiiippp!" It sounded like a diesel engine revving, and smelled worse. To keep from gagging, he tried fanning his arms a while, hoping the smell would dissipate.

Things had just about returned to normal when he felt another urge coming. He shifted his weight to his other leg and let go.

This was a real blue ribbon winner; the windows rattled, the dishes on the table shook and a minute later the flowers on the table were dead. While keeping an ear tuned in on the conversation in the hallway, and keeping his promise of staying blindfolded, he carried on like this for the next ten minutes farting and fanning them each time with his napkin.

When he heard the "phone farewells" (indicating the end of his loneliness, and freedom) he neatly laid his napkin on his lap and folded his hands on top of it. Smiling contentedly, he was the picture of innocence when his wife walked in.

Apologizing for taking so long, she asked if he had peaked at the dinner. After assuring her he had not, she removed the blindfold and yelled "Surprise!!"

To his shock & terror, there were twelve dinner guests seated around the table for his surprise birthday party.

Me: Fix the cover back.

Me: Aiyo you must take the whole thing (cover) out first!

And this is what Samuel did.

You all really made great improvements over a constricted time..and best of all is that i believed you all gave in 101% of what you all are capable of on stage..i know cause the yin zhun of cellos and basses coming in with the conductor was perfect..it was a real great experience to be up there with all of you..and a real great experience to know that all that hardwork did not go to waste..

Well..Gold with Honours with us for 2 more years..but i hope the sec3s you all will be consistent with your practice of your instruments..sec4s are leaving soon..and the stage is set for you all..go up there and bring DYB back to the best yuezu!..

Your zuzhang here admits that he did not do much things for you all..hopefully you all dun blame him..haha..but also hopefully you all will continue to do your best..

Sec4s are turning into alumni soon..i dno how many of them will be coming back..but i definitely will be coming back to help you all!..anyway it is in all your hands to bring up the next batch that will help us to keep the gold with honours for yet another 2 years..

So..heat of SYF is over..but do no slack!..prepare for any next event coming up..make sure you all will be the best in terms of skills.attitude and GAN JUE!..yes..so jia you for wadeva you all do!..

anyway, I want to post the very inspiring sms that was being passed around CO these few days. I think it really brings alot of ganjue in jusong when you think of it! :)

Me: Oh my gosh I suddenly realise that I have never played this note zhun before.
Zhiying: Its ok, repeat this part again.
Me: -plays and it was SO ZHUN!- Oh my gosh, I'm so zhun!
Me: -keeps playing and its keeps being zhun and I suddenly realised that I was also quite zhun last time haha-

Zhiying: Hanyin, your turn.
Hanyin: -plays that part and it was so NOT ZHUN-
Hanyin: I have never been zhun for this part before. My yinzhun is terrible. I suck I suck I suck the most. I'm terrible and my rhythm all out, no gan jue at all. I suck I suck.
Hanyin: -plays and it was ZHUN!- This method is quite effective in helping us in our playing. Ooh hoo hoo I suck I suck!

So I think she will be demoralising herself before we go upstage. Never mind, its ok. Some people are just so mentally unstable.

Lastly, jiayou jiayou jiayou! The snow fairy will shower everyone with luck! HAHA IM FEELING SO HIGH NOW. I HAVE BEEN FEELING HIGH AND GREEDY NOWADAYS.

SYF tomorrow!! so after reading all the posts, i suddenly feel so guilty that i seldom talk in here, so TA-DAH!! i rarely post here, so must be touched ok! haha.

EVERYBODY JIAYOU FOR TOMORROW!!! i believe that we can do it! we will continue being the legendary DHSCO, we will be the wonder, the miracle of DHSCO!!

after all these 7-day weeks of hardwork, sweat, and tears put in for SYF, i dont believe we'll fail, or at least fall to such a bad extent. heh.. but anyway, just put in all our feelings for that day and play our hearts out, we can make miracles!! whoo!!

and ok, i shall take this moment to be nice to samuel for once.
since he doesnt come here often, and since i dont want to say this in front of him (cos i'm afraid his head will blow up so big it'll fall off his neck, lol), i shall announce it to the world here (:

Hello hello!!
shocked to see me blogging i guess? Ha.. I am kinda shocked myself..

So.. tmr is the big day huh.. *lets out a loud guffaw with hands akimbo*
Have been really busy these past few weeks and i really wanted to go back but just couldn't find the time to! Don't worry I still LOVE you guys=)

My advice? Be confident tomorrow but not over confident. know that you all have practiced so hard and succumbing to the jitters won't make life good. lets slash all the jitters to DEATH! *swings his samurai sword endlessly at jitters*

Also, I have learnt that settling down and thinking through mentally before the competition really helps. So as far as possible, pls settle down and not be noisy whenever you have the time tmr(whether in the bus or over at sch)! The situation tmr will be kinda chaotic and fast. So do have some mental preparation of what is to come.

Finally, in VJ, the culture is very westernised. So people like us who helm from the oh-so-cheenah Dunman are labelled cheenah! So..

SYF 2007 - Important Points

Hey all fellow dybians..today is the last day before our SYF..so here are all the points that i will want you all to take note of for the compeitition(more like performance)..please do not make any mistakes! =)

As it will surely be a day probably full of mishaps happening and small things suddenly popping up..i will want every of the small little things stated here done by before flag-raising..

Firstly..the Xian Xiang..
I will need JUNWEN to make sure that there are atleast 8 A Strings and 8 D strings inside the box..other srings nvm..also makesure that there will be atleast 3 Tuners too..followed by 3 Tuners Inputs which i will put in tml..have geneve to assist you should you need it.. =)

Secondly..the Basses..
I will need JIAYAO to have all the basses tuned and put in their taos..no more jias..make sure your juniors took bows and the stoppers with them..you will have to lead them tml..have 2 basses up on each bus..have shaoyu to assist you should you need it =)

Then..to Everyone..
Make sure that all your cellos and basses are in good conditions..attire for tml will be LONG SLEEVE WHITE SHIRT with your SCHOOL BADGE AND CO BADGE on..LONG PANTS..BLACK SOCKS/STOCKINGS AND BLACK SHOES/COURT SHOES..RED TIE will be given to you all tml..and NO NEED BLAZER!..make sure that all of you look tidy especialy girl's hair like cally..
You all will also have to take your own ANCHORS/STOPPERS tml so do not forget..
Please be on your best behaviour tml too..as i said tml will be a uptight say..so i'll need all your co-operation..do not keep talking among yourselves and stay quiet..i do not want to see you all talking on the bus..at SCH or whatsoever..SCH will have other school's CO there..make sure you create the impact and image that DHSCO is self-disciplined..after the performance i will also want you all to queue up outside at the lobby immediately..queue up the way how u all prepare to go up on stage..I DO NOT WANT ANY NOISE..so make sure you all know what to do tml..
On the stage please try to ALWAYS look up as it look VERY AWFUL from the audience view went you look down on your cello or bass..and also sit straight..do not sloutch..once you're on the stage..shift your chairs with mine..put down your anchors..and sit down straight with confidence..DO NOT MAKE TOO MUCH NOISE..remember..this is the impact..

Just one more day to SYF..do not take it as a compeitition..no..it is a performance..give in your best..remember all the important parts of the pieces..remember to give in your 101% gan jue on stage(of course the CORRECT gan jue)..i will want you all to walk up the stage confidently..confident that the Gold with Honours is ours to take..not ours to lose too..it all depends on all of you..give out the radiance ofconfidenceand of course your skills..i hope that your skills and gan jue will be ULTRA good tml..make the miracle..you all can do it..

Remember..Gold with honours do not drop down from the skies..So do MIRACLES..you have to MAKE them..and THEY WILL BE YOURS..good luck!..give me your best tml..

i was so touched by cindy's post so i decided to post!! haha..

well.. basiCALLY.. i will just wanna say what i thought about this period of time la..

this period of time.. i learn a lot of things.. mayb stuff i wont be able to know or learn in my life.. i get to witness 80 ppl thrown together and to work hard for a common purpose.. and that's to continue the legend of DHSCO..

this period of time is quite tough for us to go through.. so many practices.. so many dazus, fenzus.. jusong and wind crescenti were revolving around us.. and in less than two days.. we might not be practicing anymore..

i feel happy and sad at the same time..

happy because we improved as an orchestra and sad because.. well.. because syf will be over soon..

i enjoyed practicing together.. laugh at some mistakes we made.. being serious when we had to.. moving together when we play.. and blah blah blah..

after syf, the sec 4s will be alumnis.. the sec 3s will be seniors.. its all happening so fast..

i am gonna miss the time when we work together for a common goal (quote from chiobu)

after syf.. wad will we work together for? the next gongyan?

Well anyway, I've been feeling very proud of Samuel these two weeks.

Anyways, the start of me feeling proud of Samuel was when he was sitting next to me when Mayping went for BP.

He was saying he practised the same few bars of jiankuai 50++ times the night before.

Then after that when he got one or two notes wrong and I corrected him, he was so willing to learn! He was like, "Is it like this? Correct?"

I was so touched can.

I'm not being sarcastic. Seriously.

Then for the next few days he came so early before school and practised with me!

I'm soooo proud of him.

Don't know why, I feel like thanking him.

hey everyone! all the best for your coming SYF!

do remember, be fully prepared and settled down before you go on stage. this means knowing where your anchors/files/bows/extra tuners etc are, knowing exactly when it's your turn to go up on stage, which hand to carry your cello and which hand to carry your file. if you need to, put reinforcement rings on your scores, make sure all the fingering and bowing are clearly written. even little things like deciding to unbutton blazer on stage, or tuning the bei qin must prepare early before hand.

i believe all of you have practiced hard, and you're gonna do us proud. at this jing ji de guan tou, it's the little things that will give that added boost of confidence! not to mention your seniors will be heading down to SCH to support, so all the best k!

She was the leading batch in AHS Band who got their first GoldwHons. That may not sound too great but it is when your band has been getting silvers and etc all through!

Don't know why, I feel like my self-practices are so unproductive and a total waste of time.

Okay fine, actually I do know why. I know it so well but it's the fact that I can't really do anything about it that fustrates me.

Practising in the co room doesn't help 'cause there's just too many people and it's a big area so it's either too noisy that I can't hear too well or there're just too many people which distracts the already very easily distracted me.

Practising with the other cellists is even worst. All the same tunes clashing here and there. I'm not even sure when my yin is zhun or not. Either they get distracted or I get distracted or we just end up chatting away.

20 minutes before school, 3 hours straight in the co room after school on some days, nothing comes out of it. Except perhaps fustration and feeling drained.

The other time I went to the container where no one was there, the place was small and enclosed and I just practised 1 hour straight by myself. It worked. I could actually feel myself improve lei!

Gaarh. I don't care. I'm gonna stop wasting all my time in the co room. Starting from next week, I'm going to the container to practise by myself. I'll still be going to the co room in the morning 'cause at least it's quieter there in the morning than in the container classroom where everyone is there.

I'm not going to bother about the fact that if I don't go to the co room to practise keewei will start ticking me off on "I see other yuezu going to the co room to practise everyday but what about you? I don't see you there at all."

Afterall, it's not proving to him that we do actually practise that's gonna give us that GoldwHonours or the standard of music we want. I'm going to practise where it suits me best. 'Cause I really want dhsco to get GoldwHonours and get to experience how it's like to get it and be proud of it!

Yeah, wo3 xiang3 tong1 le! I've finally thought things through!

To hell with trying to show the world I practise! 'Cause I damn well know I'm not improving in the co room.

SYF is 70 days away. That is less than 3 months to go. I believe that all of you know of our current music standard. Is this what the legendary DHSCO is supposed to be. Is this the DHSCO that has won numerous gold with honours and the envy of all the other school’s chinese orchestra. I don’t think so. Do your feel proud when you say that you are a member of DHSCO. If so then ask yourselves why DHSCO should be proud to have you. I see people talking in the middle of practice. I see people huning through the whole of the practice. For those that don’t know, there are only 80 slots for SYF. Once you miss this chance, it will no longer come along again. Let me make this clear to you. At this point if any of you have no regards for SYF, Gongyan or anything to do with DHSCO, you are not welcomed. Let me make this clear to you, no one in this orchestra is indispensable. DHSCO need people that love what they are doing, so even if you are godly at your instrument but you do not love DHSCO, we don’t want you. I hope your understand that being a member of DHSCO is not just clinching the gold with honours. I believe that not everyone of you would join DHSCO if it just all about the music and to be in a top orchestra. I honestly tell you that at the start of my life in DHSCO I didn’t like it one bit at all. I’m even considered as a delinquent in DHSCO as I have ponned 5 months straight. What made me change my opinion was the friendship and the feeling of being part of a big family. If even someone like me can do it so can any of you. Look around you, the people in your section are the people that you have spend numerous hours during the holidays with. I’m sure that these are the people that have laughed and cried with you. Even if you are not willing to work hard for the orchestra, at least work hard for the friendships that you have made in DHSCO. I know that the endless hours of practice are torturous. But practice really makes perfect. If you don’t put in the effort you will never get the result. For those of you that don’t know, all the schools out there are out to get us. I’m sure that those of you that have attended East Zone know that there are people who’s standard are a whole step above us. What set us apart is the when we work together and produce the music from our heart. If we lose this component we might as well give up now. 音乐要发自内心才能进入内心。Let the music be an extension of your passion. We have worked so hard together, and played so hard together as well. This the last league of the race. For the sec 4s this year, SYF will be your last performance as a zaiji member. For the Sec 3s SYF would be the starting point where your will take over. Despite how corny this post sounds, I hope your understand the message I’m trying to convey.

"Going Early" is better than "Going Punctually"
"Going Punctually" is better than "Going Late"
"Going Late" is better than "Going Not" (in some places, it's the other way round)
"Going Not" is better than "Going Temporarily Not"
"Going Temporarily Not" is better than "Going Forever Not"
"Going Forever Not" is equivalent to "Going Never Ever"

Scenario Number 1:
If you had chosen "Going Never Ever", you can ignore this post.

Scenario Number 2:
In places where "Going Not" is preferred over "Going Late"; the moment you realised that you're going to be late or had overslept, jolly well continue sleeping or choose "Going Not":)

Scenario Number 3:
It's an rhetorical question. Do you think it's easier to choose "Going Never Ever" or "Going Early"?

Scenario Number 4:
So why make life difficult for yourself when facing scenario number 3?
If there is a first time, it's likely to have second, third, fourth, fifth......... and many many times.
So another rhetorical question.
Don't you that that you should choose "Going Never Ever" since you cannot choose "Going Early" every time?

Scenario Number 5:
If most people choose "Going Never Ever" since they cannot choose "Going Early", well, happy imagining what's going to happen...... :) to people who chose to "Go Early", futue te ipsum

Scenario 6:
When you had planned to choose "Going Never Ever" in Scenario Number 2;
But because of certain limitations, you cannot choose "Going Never Ever", "Going Forever Not", "Going Temporarily Not" and "Going Not", so what's the next one you can choose? It's of course "Going Late". But since they prefer "Going Not" to "Going Late", so why not choose "Going Late"?

Eh when Hanyin and Shaoyu gets married, please remember to invite the whole dyb. I'm so kind I check for you all le, Fullerton Hotel, one table $1000+ thankyou but heard that they serve double of every dish or something. Hope that will not happen during your wedding. Hope Hanyin will have fun waking up to sounds of 'my dear'. Good luck, my poor hanyin.

Oh I promised to blog about our beloved Honey and Rosie. Here it goes. I shall write in primary school compo format cause thats about the standard of the female and male lead of this story. This story requires loads of imagination, which is quite tough cause no one wants to think about shaoyu or hanyin.

It was raining cats and dogs. Far out in Buona Vista, in an ulu and abandoned building, the former RJC campus, a bunch of kids decided to go for fenzu. They met up in the hall.

Forget it lar, this type of compo is ruining my high class image. Let me continue in my high class way.

... Do you realise that whenever Shaoyu calls Hanyin, he PURPOSELY pronounces hanyin as HONEY. Honey as in HONEY BABY. (OH MY HONEY BABY -flutters eyelid-) Just imagine shaoyu doing that.. can puke one lor.

And he likes to call hanyin to help him apply rosynth(correct spelling anot?-.-) on his cello bow. But instead of pronouncing it as 'rosynth', he prounounces it as ROSIE. Phua Chu Kang that Rosie. Thus, the name stuck and from now on, please call Shaoyu 'Rosie' instead.

And Shaoyu also likes to call Hanyin 'my dear'. Like oh my god lar, so disgusting! My goosebumps are acting up again.
